FREE SCREENING! SPREAD THE WORD! Girl Trouble will screen as part of the Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema series in the featured time slot at 9 PM on September 17 at St. Mary's Park in Bernal Heights. There is a Meet-the-Filmmakers reception preceding the evening's program from 6 to 7pm on site at St. Mary's Park! St. Mary’s Park entrance is officially at Murray Avenue and Justin Drive. You can also enter from the steps on Crescent at Murray.

Girl Trouble Wins Golden Gate Award!

Girl Trouble Directors, Lexi Leban and Lidia Szajko received the 2004 S an Francisco International Film Festival (SFIFF) Golden Gate Award for Best Bay Area Documentary. Girl Trouble had its world premiere at the 47th SFIFF where it screened as an Official Golden Gate Awards (GGA) Documentary Feature. It was one of 57 works nominated from over 1,400 film submissions for a GGA and one of 11 films to be named a Golden Gate Award winner. As part of the award, Lexi and Lidia received a $2,500 cash prize and $2,000 worth of lab services from AlphaCine Labs. Lexi and Lidia will be donating the $2,500 cash prize to establish two new funds in order to help girls who are or have been in the juvenile justice system.

The 47th San Francisco International Film Festival is presented by the San Francisco Film Society, a nonprofit arts organization whose goal is to lead in expanding the knowledge and appreciation of international film art and its artists by showcasing the most compelling, thought-provoking international films, special tributes and major restorations. The Golden Gate Awards are key to SFIFF efforts to provide support to the development of international independent cinema.
